Built by a childminder, not an agency

Do childminders in England need a written contract?
The EYFS doesn't require one by name, but it does require you to give parents your fees, policies and other information. A signed contract is the clearest way to do it, and it's what you'll both point to if there's a disagreement.
Does it cover funded hours?
Yes. It follows the DfE's April 2026 guidance: funded hours are free, extras are optional with an opt-out, and invoices show funded and private hours separately.
How is this different from using an agency?
An agency registers you, gives you templates and support, and typically takes 10 to 15% of your earnings for as long as you stay. GoChildmind does the paperwork for £29 a year, and you stay registered with Ofsted yourself.
